大學(xué)英語作文1
The first time in life? Then grasp your chance with your perfect performance on the dating night, by learning the following principle in heart. Dress properly. While everyone wants to give an impressive debut on the first date, you should avoid wearing something too bizarre to be accepted. If you are still in school, a sportswear can fulfill your purpose. For businessman or grownups, casual clothes are recommended. Never put up your working uniforms,no matter how well you like that Armani suit. It is no work. A few accessories such as a pair of sunglasses or silver loops on the wrist can add up to the romance sphere. Take a bath before dating. And if you like, spray a little perfume, but unless you're sure that he or she likes the smell, don't use ones that are too strong.
Watch your manner. You're no prince of the Scotland nor Cinderella in the legend. Proper manners will ensure a lasting relationship while bad ones scare away your sweetheart. And do make sure you do not boast about your fortune, for, not everyone are green addicts. And your way of smiling, or your greatestoath, should neither be "coy" nor "by St. Loy!" after the nun in Chaucer. Be a little sensitive than merely innocent. Do make sure you do not intrude his or her privacy on the first date. For there maybe something deeply concealed within the inner core of every heart, of which the owner doesn't share often with anyone but his intimacy. Finally, wish you good luck. May you get your hearts combined and start a new journey in the miracle of life and love. Stay tuned till a borderline is reached, and keep on through out the whole way.

most chinese students tend to be silent and reluctant to answer questions in class, let alone to raise any question. it is in fact a very bad custom for a student. we should be active in class.
first of all, students should show initiative. during a class, only listening to the teacher and taking notes are not enough. we must use our heads and think along with the teacher. by answering questions, we can test our knowledge. by raising questions to the teacher, we may learn more. in addition, being active in class will strengthen our confidence. if one is too timid to answer a question in class, how can he get enough courage to take any challenge in society in the future?
no opportunity waits for men, but men can grasp opportunity. the same is true of the studies in class. we will find more opportunities in class if we are active enough, and we will certainly learn more than those passive ones.
大學(xué)英語作文3
Hi, Jim, there is an interesting picture conveying a message vividly that a difference between reality and dream may as well be recognized in our life. Evidently, realizing this difference and trying to shorten this gap is the key to achieving our accomplishment, otherwise nothing will be gotten in the end.
In our daily life, some people are aware of their ability, making great efforts to improve themselves, while others ignore the disparity between their earnest wish and poorest actuality, doing nothing but complaining. Conceivably, the confused man in the picture is exactly the latter one. In this picture, a man is fishing on a big stone, waiting and waiting. However, the small fish he has caught is totally different from the big one he is longing for. Now, there are two options in front of him: face the reality and keep trying till get the dreamy fish, or drop his fishing rod and feel desperate. Apparently, he chooses the second one. Such a situation seems fairly common in our society. We are faced with this kind of intriguing question all the time, and every choice we make has great influence on our way to success. Making an accurate estimate of our realities and dreams, then sparing no efforts to approach the tip is the only option for us to make, provided that we are in great want of achieving our goals.
Based on the above statement, a conclusion will be arrived at that learning to accept the reality and adopting a positive attitude towards the dream is what we are supposed to do, when confronting our less-satisfying situation.

In recent years, distant education has generally beenbrought into the public focus. A large number of universities have offered opencourses on the internet. However, just as the saying goes, “so many people, somany minds.” People from different backgrounds take divergent views concerningthis case.
Those who have already benefited from practicing itsing high praise of it. They come up with the attitude that distant educationhas provided a wider way for students to learn various cultures around all overthe world. It is a more convenient way for students to broaden their horizon. However, there are also some others who contend that various kinds of opencourses on the internet will bring some chaos to students. Students who areexposed to too many different courses and cultures will have difficulty indistinguishing the passive ones and the opposite.

Taking into consideration both sides of the issue, Iam inclined to be on the side of the former opinion. I strongly approve of themotion that distant education is a convenient and important way for students toget in touch with foreign culture, especially for those who major in foreignlanguage learning. But at the same time, I also advocate that students shouldpay more attention to choose proper subjects rather than accept them entirely.

集團標(biāo)準(zhǔn)化小組:[VVOPPT-JOPP28-JPPTL98-LOPPNN] How can we benefit from travelling?
In some countries young people are encouraged to travel for a year between finishing high school and university.?Why do so many parents allow their children to have such a trip in the most important stage of life??The answer is that it will benefit for their growth.
How can we benefit from travelling??First of all, by traveling we can see many places read of in books, and visit some famous cities and scenic spots.?We will enjoy the beautiful scenery in different places, which we can be never felt from the book.
Second, we will meet people with different interests and see strange and different things when we travel.?We can get ideas of the conditions and customs of other people, taste different foods and local flavors.?In this way, we can totally understand how differently other people live.Last but not the list, travel will not only help us keep healthy and make us less narrow-minded, but also help them expand their scope of knowledge, especially geographical and historical learning, which will arouse our deep love for our motherland.Learn English well without going to an English-speaking country.
Without doubt, if you would like to learn a sort of language well, the easiest method is staying in the atmosphere of that kind of language-speaking.?However, for Chinese, English learning has something different from others because English is more and more popular and can be learned well only in the domestic.?It is entirely possible to learn English well without being to an English-speaking country for a certain amount of time. How to do??Much can be done.?We, fore and most, can download and watch many English TV shows and movies with Chinese and English subtitles through the Internet.?It helps us to contact the English world and construct the learning atmosphere.?Furthermore, the number of foreigners who can speak pure English and come to China to study or work is significant increasing.?To make foreign friends is not a difficult thing, and communicating with them in public or school class helps to improve the ability of English-speaking?
Lastly, the learner attitudes have an important influence on mastering the knowledge of English.?The harder we take practice with effective and efficient method, the better our capability of English will be.In a word, attitude is everything, and we can gain good English skills when we really want to speak it fluently, even without living in an English-speaking country.we should be allowed outsiders to do self-study in university classrooms.
University, a unique symbol of civilization, provide a place to people thinking and learning.?This place attracts so many students who have to try their best to past the university entrance exam to study and live.?However, there are still a lot of outsiders hoping to do self-study in university classrooms.?Should this behavior be allowed??As far as I am concerned, we should open the door and welcome them to learn with us.
Why should we do that??Firstly, now that the outsiders choose the university classrooms as the learning place to do self-study, they would like the learning atmosphere there and be doing self-study quietly.?What is more, the university spread the spirit of care in society, which teach us to care others, and we should understand their feelings.?Lastly, when the outsiders have self-study in the classrooms, they also help the school to create a strong atmosphere of learning and thinking.
In a word, the school should serve as a driving force, doing its utmost to encourage outsiders to do self-study in university classrooms, and the whole society will soon be populated with such a trend. Will paper books be replaced by e-books? Why or why not?
In the period of electronic technology, the invention of e-books seems to be blessing to our students.?Some folks prefer electric ones to textbooks, for such books are obviously handy and convenient and they are conductive to their readers, who can obtain much relatively updated information.?However, will paper books be replaced by e-books??This question has brought in a heated discussion.
There is no doubt that e-books are so convenient that people can easily get them on the Internet with cheaper cost instead of spending a lot of money to buy a traditional one.?Moreover, it's more environmental-friendly and recourse-saving to read e-books as forests can be protected from being cut down to make paper. In this way, many people assert that traditional books may possibly disappear in the near future.
But I don't think so.?Traditional books still occupy an important position and they will not be replaced by e-books completely.?First of all, it's an enjoyable time for someone wandering in the bookstore choosing the favorite books from the shelves.?Besides, it can be harmful to people's eyes when keeping staring at the screen for a long period of time.?With e-books, people cannot read for as long as you like, because they have to rest their eyes from time to time.?More importantly, it will be a pity for those book-collecting fans if there are only electronic books, as there will be no more beautifully.

In recent years, more and more citizens here would like to travel abroad。 In 1995, the number of people who would like to travel abroad was 10000, which increased to nearly 40000 in 20xx。 And in 20xx, the number further climbed above 12,000。 there are several reasons for the shocking rise。
the improvement of the economic conditions is probably the main reason for it。 People do not need to worry about their diet and various other necessities。 After visiting famous scenic spots throughout our country, the citizens’ taste has changed, with support of enough finance。
Moreover, enhancement of personal capacity is becoming more and more a requirement for those who want to make GREater success。 With the development of economy and technology, citizens begin to take advantage of different foreign products as well as education。 Since most citizens have got used to their life at home, traveling abroad becomes one of the easiest ways to have direct contact with exotic cultures。
Many advantages as traveling abroad may bring to us, it may also bring about many disadvantages。 For instance, there are many elites who have ever traveled abroad may be attracted by the nicer living and researching conditions abroad and thus never return, which is really a pity to our nation。
Comparatively speaking, traveling abroad is a serious decision to make。 Maybe, look before you leap is better。

it is widely believed that some people are born lucky and successful, because they possess high intelligence. but this is not true. high intelligence is not equal to success. success lies in not only the intelligence factors but also the non-intelligence factors.
non-intelligence factors are at least as important as intelligence factors, if not more than the latter. success is built upon tremendous amount of study, practice and devotion. in addition, having a definite goal and knowing what to do net become more important. in fact, researchers have evidence that an intrinsic passion for one's work is a key factor for success.
according to my own eperience, during our college years, having a good study habit is also important. higber marks can't be gained by putting in more hours. efficiency in study can help us learn more.
therefore, i think success is brought about both by innate intelligence factors and by non-intelligence factors.

People often say we have entered the electronic age. Computers have become the center of life. No one can live and work without computers. In the future, everyone can work and study at home before a PC. There won't be piles of files. Instead, a disc is OK enough.
With the appearance of printers, the pen becomes less useful than before. And since the computer was created, paper is also gradually giving way to the screen, which can show lively moving things from different sides in the same picture.
It is true that with the development of science, such products as computers and printers will be the major tools in our future life and work. But the traditional tools will also exist for a long time to supplement the function of the modern ones. At least, we still need pens to sign with and paper to sign on.

Movies are popular because people are great watchers. They like to watch other peoples’ lives. They like to live vicariously. By going to movies, we can escape our own lives, share other emotions, and imagine ourselves as someone else.
Many of our lives are not as adventurous or glamorous as the lives in movies. We do not battle evil all day long and then go back to our luxurious penthouse apartment. We just go to school, do our homework, et, talk to our friends, and sleep. We need a little excitement in our lives and we find excitement at the movies.
Humans are very emotional people. We all like to cry and laugh. Fortunately, there is not much to cry about in my life so I like to go to sad movies where my heart strings can be tugged. I also like to go to comedies so I can laugh. I tend to cry and laugh more in a dark movie theater than I do in broad daylight.
Now I am a student, but I know someday I will be a scientist or a politician or a famous model. When I go to the movies, I can see my role models. I see how they act, what they wear, how they talk. I can prepare myself for the day when I will be like them.
Even though my life is quiet, I can go to the movies and watch someone else’s life. I can share their emotions and their everyday life. I wonder if they would like to share mine.

Asimov explains why there is much more in intelligence than just being able to score high on intelligence tests. What Is Intelligence, Anyway? Isaac Asimor
What is intelligence, anyway? When I was in the army I received a kind of aptitude test that all soldiers took and,
against a normal of 100, scored 160. No one at the base had ever seen a figure like that and for two hours they made a nig fuss over me. (It didn't mean anything. The next day I was still a buck private with KP as my highest duty.)
All my life I've been registering scores like that, so that I have the complacent feeling that I'm highly intelligent, and I expect other people to think so, too. Actually, though, don't such scores simply mean that I am very good at answering the type of academic questions that are considered worthy of answers by the people who make up the intelligence tests - people with intellectual bents similar to mine?
For instance, I had an auto-repair man once, who, on these intelligence tests, could not possibly have scored more than 80, by my estimate. I always took it for granted that I was far more intelligent than he was. Yet, when anything went wrong with my car I hastened to him with it, watched him anxiously as he explored its vitals, and listened to his pronouncements as though they were divine oracles - and he always fixed my car. Well, then, suppose my auto-repair man devised questions for an intelligence test. Or suppose a carpenter did, or a farmer, or, indeed, almost anyone but an academician. By every one of those tests, I'd prove myself a moron. And I'd be a moron, too. In a world where I could not use my academic training and my verbal talents but had to do something intricate or hard, working with my hands, I would do poorly. My intelligence, then, is not absolute. Its worth is determined by the society I live in. Its numerical evaluation is determined by a small subsection of that society which has managed to foist itself on the rest of us as an arbiter of such matters. Consider my auto-repair man, again. He had a habit of telling me jokes whenever he saw me. One time he raised his head from under the automobile hood to say: "Doc, a deaf-and-dumb guy went into a hardware store to ask for some nails. He put two fingers together on the counter and made hammering motions with the other hand. The clerk brought him a hammer. He shook his head and pointed to the two fingers he was hammering. The clerk brought him nails. He picked out the sizes he wanted, and left. Well, doc, the next guy who came in was a blind man. He wanted scissors. How do you suppose he asked for them?"
I lifted my right hand and made scissoring motions with my first two fingers. Whereupon my auto-repair man laughed heartily and said, "Why, you dumb fool, he used his voice and asked for them." Then he said, smugly, "I've been trying that on all my customers today." "Did you catch many?" I asked. "Quite a few," he said, "but I knew for sure I'd catch you." "Why is that?" I asked. "Because you're so goddamned educated, doc, I know you couldn't be very smart."
And I have an uneasy feeling he had something there. PHRAESE & EXPRESSIONS

"No Spitting !"
With SARS gradually passing its peak, more and more people take off their gauze masks. They feel released and have more freedom to breathe in fresh air. However, a certain number of people have restored their bad habit and start to spit everywhere. Now and then, whether in the street, or on the bus, or in city gardens, we will see some people, the fine ladies and gentilemen, spitting without feeling a bit ashamed as shown in the picture. When shown the" NO SPITTING !sign, they just turn a blind eye to it. Still worse, people around have to be on guard against the sudden attack of 'spit
shot" from the spitters.
Spitting is a terrible habit. For one thing, it is-entirely uncivilized. The world has entered the 21st century and human civilization has reached a more advanced stage. Why can't those people remove this ugly habit? Is it because they think the earth is a gigantic spittoon? For another thing, spitting does great harm to public health. According to chemical laboratory test, one sputum contains thousands upon thousands of germs and SARS viruses if the spitter is a SARS Sufferer. As was reported, the Beijing Municipal Government once mobilized an army of a thousand sanitation workers to clean out the mess in Tian An Men Square.
For people to get rid of this uncivilized behaviour, we suggest local authorities strengthen education by publicizing the harmfulness of spitting, and at the same time, enforce the law of punishment.
Finally, we, citizens of the earth, must he self-disciplined, love our Mother Earth and don't dirty her.

-ears pricked forward intently as it watched the man and the man, as he beat and threshed with his arms and hands, felt a great surge of envy as he regarded the creature that was warm ant secure in its natural covering。
after a time he was aware of the first far-away signals of sensation in his beaten fingers。 the faint tingling grew stronger till it evolved into a stinging ache that was ecruciating, but which the man hailed with satisfaction。 he stripped the mitten from his right hand and fetched forth the birch bark。 the eposed fingers were quickly going numb again。 net he brought out his bunch of sulphur matches。 but the tremendous cold had already driven the life out of his fingers。 in his effort to separate one match from the others, the whole bunch fell in the snow。 he tried to pick it out of the snow, but failed。 the dead fingers could neither touch nor clutch。 he was very careful。 he drove the thought of his freezing feet, and nose, and cheeks, out of his mind, devoting his whole soul to the matches。 he watched, using the sense of vision in place of that of touch, and when he saw his fingers on each side the bunch, he dosed them--that is, he willed to close them, for the wires were down, and the fingers did not obey。 he pulled the mitten on the right hand and beat it fiercely against his knee。 then。 with both mittened hands, he scooped the bunch of matches, along with much snow, into his lap。 yet he was no better off。
after some manipulation he managed to get the bunch between the heels of his mittened hands。 in this fashion he carried it to his mouth。 the ice crackled and snapped when by a violent effort he opened his mouth。 he drew the lower jaw in, curled the upper lip out of the way, and scraped the bunch with his upper teeth in order to separate a match。 he succeeded in getting one, which he dropped on his lap。 he was no better off。 he could not pick it up。 then he devised a way。 he picked it up in his teeth and scratched it on his leg。 twenty times he scratched before he succeeded in lighting it。 as it flamed he held it with his teeth to the birch bark。 but the burning brimstone went up his nostrils and into his lungs, causing him to cough spasmodically。 the match fell into the snow and went out。
the old-timer an sulphur creek was right, he thought in the moment of controlled despair that ensued after fifty below, a man should travel with a partner。 he beat his hands, but failed in eciting any sensation。 suddenly he bared both hands, removing the mittens with his teeth。 he caught the whole bunch between the heels of his hands。 his arm muscles not being frozen enabled him to press the hand-heels tightly against the matches。 then he scratched the bunch along his leg it flared into flame, seventy sulphur matches at once! there was no wind to blow them out he kept his head to one side to escape the strangling fumes, and held the blazing bunch to the birth bark。 as he so held it, he became aware of sensation in his hand。 his flesh was burning。 he could smell it。 deep down below the surface he could feel it。 the sensation developed into pain that grew acute。 and still he endured, it holding the flame of the matches clumsily to the bark that would not light readily because his own burning hands were in the way, absorbing most of the flame。
at last, when he could endure no more, he jerked his hands apart。 the blazing matches fell sizzling into the snow, but the birch bark was alight。 he began laying dry grasses and the tiniest twigs on the flame。 he could not pick and choose, for he had to lift the fuel between the heels of his hands。 small pieces of rotten wood and green moss clung to the twigs, and he bit them off as well as he could with his teeth。 he cherished the flame carefully and awkwardly。 it meant life, and it must not perish。 the withdrawal of blood from the surface of his body now made him begin to shiver, and he grew more awkward。 a large piece of green moss fell squarely on the little fire。 he tried to poke it out with his fingers, but his shivering frame made him poke too far and he disrupted the nucleus of the little fire, the burning grasses and tiny twigs separating and scattering。 he tried to poke them together again, but in spite of the tenseness of the effort, his shivering got away with him, and the twigs were hopelessly scattered。 each twig gushed a puff of smoke and went out。 the fire-provider had failed。 as he looked apathetically about him, his eyes chanced on the dog, sitting across the ruins of the fire from him, in the snow, making restless, hunching movements, slightly lifting one forefoot and then the other, shifting its weight back and forth on them with wistful eagerness。
the sight of the dog put a wild idea into his head。 he remembered the tale of the man, caught in a blizzard, who killed a steer and crawled inside the carcass, and so was saved。 he would kill the dog and bury his hands in the warm body until the numbness went out of them。 then he could build another fire。 he spoke to the dog, calling it to him; but in his voice was a strange note of fear that frightened the animal, who had never known the man to speak in such way before。 something was the matter, and its suspicious nature sensed danger--it knew not what danger, but somewhere, somehow, in its brain arose an apprehension of the man。 it flattened its ears down at the sound of the mans voice, and its restless, hunching movements and the liftings and shiftings of its forefeet became more pronounced; but it would not come to the man。 he got on his hands and knees and crawled toward the dog。 this unusual posture again ecited suspicion, and the animal sidled mincingly away。
the man sat up in the snow for a moment and struggled for calmness。 then he pulled on his mittens, by means of his teeth, and got upon his feet。 he glanced down at first in order to assure himself that he was really standing up, for the absence of sensation in his feet left him unrelated to the earth。 his erect position in itself started to drive the webs of suspicion from the dogs mind; and when he spoke peremptorily, with the sound of whiplashes in his voice, the dog rendered its customary allegiance and came to him。 as it came within reaching distance, the man lost his control。 his arms flashed out to the dog, and he eperienced genuine surprise when he discovered that his hands could not clutch, that there was neither bend nor feeling in the fingers。 he had forgotten for the moment that they were frozen and that they were freezing more and more。 all this happened quickly, and before the animal could get away, he encircled its body with his arms。 he sat down in the snow, and in this fashion held the dog, while it snarled and whined and struggled。
but it was all he could do, hold its body encircled in his arms and sit there。 he realized that he could not kill the dog。 there was no way to do it。 with his helpless hands he could neither draw nor hold his sheath knife nor throttle the animal。 he released it, and it plunged wildly away, with tail between its legs, and still snarling。 it halted forty feet away and surveyed him curiously, with ears sharply pricked forward。 the man looked down at his hands in order to locate them, and found them hanging on the ends of his arms。 it struck him as curious that one should have to use his eyes in order to find out where his hands were。 he began threshing his arms back and forth, beating the mittened hands against his sides。 he did this for five minutes, violently, and his heart pumped enough blood up to the surface to put a stop to his shivering。 but no sensation was aroused in the hands。 he had an impression that they hung like weights on the ends of his arms, but when he tried to run the impression down, he could not find it。
a certain fear of death, dull and oppressive, came to him。 this fear quickly became poignant as he realized that it was no longer a mere matter of freezing his fingers and toes, or of losing his hands and feet, but tha

A Star Teacher
Like most of my classmates, I regard our biochemistry teacherProfessor Wang Weida as a star teacher, for he has many of the qualities that students appreciate in an instructor.
First, he organizes the class well. We particularly welcome the schedules of assignments that he gives us at the beginning of the term.Having an idea of an entire frame of the knowledge planned to learn in the semester, we are able to budget our time more efficiently. Moreover, Professor Wang promptly corrects and returns papers and tests, which enables students to learn from their mistakes and to produce better work in their next as signments.
Second, he is patient. When introducing new and difficult points, he tries to explain it fully. What's more, he pays serious attention to all our questions. In his lecture, we never feel embarrassed to ask a weak or irrelevant question.
Third, Professor Wang expresses himself clearly. He does not speak too fast, and his voice is loud so that it can be heard by everyone in the room.
Finally, he is really an interesting guy. He grasps the attention of his class through his sense of humor. To emphasize important points in a lecture, he often tells witty stories about it and impresses us deeply in laughing.
A thoughtful and dedicated man, Professor Wang is generally regarded as a successful university instructor.

Some people love to change, and they look forward to new experiences. For them, following routines is tedious, they always want to do something new to have fun; while some others like to stay the same and make no change. According to them, try something new is risky, and sometimes they cannot even take the consequence of it. In my humble opinion, I think both have its own advantages and disadvantages.
For one thing, the people who don’t like to change usually have the personality of steady and calm. If you ever try to make friends with this kind of people, you will find that they will provide you with a sense of security and dependency. However, these kinds of people usually follow a fixed schedule; they don’t like to try new things. They may be quite upset if things don’t go according to plan, in this case, they will lose the opportunities to experience new stuff.
For another thing, the people who love to change also have advantages and disadvantages. They are willing to try new things, such as traveling to different countries, try a new recipe, or try to learn yoga. So they can broaden their horizon to some extent. They do not afraid of taking the risks and try to enjoy the most of life. But they usually lack of determination and perseverance, it seems that they can do everything; actually, they don’t know anything.
As far as I concern, both of these lifestyles are impractical, because nobody will stay the same forever, while nobody will always willing to try something new. For me, the ideal lifestyle is somewhere between these two lifestyles. I can live in the way I want to, and try the new ways too.
